Prevent auto-brightness changes from triggering brightness oscillations

Description of Patch

This patch changes the auto-brightness algorithm to avoid making further brightness adjustments for a number of frames after it has just made an adjustment. Since on a number of cameras the brightness adjustment does not appear to take effect immediately, this prevents the algorithm from overshooting the required brightness level and causing wild fluctuations.

Installation of Patch

Download the patch file. If it is packed as a gz or tar.gz unpack it first. Then copy it to the motion source directory and issue the command (assuming the patch file is called filename_of_patch_file.diff)

patch < filename_of_patch_file.diff

Then re-build Motion and test the patch.
