Lighting and motion
Question
I placed my DCS-900W cam next to a window. As the sun moves from east to west, the lighting in the room change. I know this is normal but this application detects it as motion. Should I increase the threshold? Any tip would be appreciated.

Answer
It really depends on how these light changes look like.
You can run Motion in setup mode and see how the Motion is detected. Then you can use the different settings.
Maybe mask out a part of a wall or furniture that reflects the light.
You can experiment with the
lightswitch option so that massive changes in many pixels are ignored.
You can experiment setting
minimum_motion_frames to 2 or 3 so that motion has to happen several camera frames in a row.
Study the Motion guide for more settings
