Images larger than 1280x1040

Question

Is it possible to have motion working with images larger than 1280x1040 ?

When we try that, we only capture a gray picture and motion is always capturing like if there was always a motion detected.

Environment

Motion version: 3.2.6
ffmpeg version:  
Libraries: ffmpeg, mysql
Server OS: Debian emt64 Unstable Kernel 2.6.16

I do not have a camera source to verify this.
