Motion not working, if not starting afterwards tv-time
Question
Motion is not capturing images. First required to start motion, than tv-time, to initialize the capture board I think. Than motion, works ok.
Using motion_3.2.7-0.ubuntu.edgy_i386.deb. In this case only one bt878 card, and one camera used.
(Kenneth, thanks for you patience! Cris)
Something I can not undertand. If tvtime works fine, why are you not using it, to set the card configuration?
Paste in your error messages, config settings, terminal window output etc in this text field.

Follow Up
Please try if you can reproduce your problem with latest snapshot
motion-3.2.8-beta1
Anyway , your config file is set to capture from :
Composite 1 ( input 1 )
Using NTSC ( norm 1 )
at 640x480
20 fps
How did you load bttv for your card ?
Also dmesg from your boot process will help .

I just wanted to add that I have the same issue. It is worth noting that I am using Kubuntu Feisty with a generic capture card just like Cris. My card is a four input card, and I need to run tvtime on each input for it to work in Motion, otherwise Motion sees "static".

Could be a pll issue ? i'll take a look to tvtime ... i'm sure that there will be the trick.
Andrew did you try to add pll=1 to load the bttv ?
