Increase motion detecting sensitivity/ have motion recording everything between hours?

Question

Sounds kind of stupid but motion skips when not a whole lot of motion is detected (perople will skip across the room) is there away to fix this.

If not can I just set up motion to record from 8am-8pm constantly?

If it helps I am using a usb 1.0 active extension cord, which I'm going to be replacing today with a USB 2.0 active extension cable.

Motion just skips to many frames and im not sure if its because ofthe cord or an incorrect setting. Also Can I have it so that it has one big movie daily and not several small movies? I've seen this somewhere but I'm not sure where.
