Maximum number of cameras

Question

I am testing motion with 3 webcam, but we want to record 16 webcams or more. We know that the more cameras we use the more powerful the computer we will need, we are setting up a AMD 6 cores 3GHz with 8GB of RAM with a 7200 RPM 1TB drive computer aside for the task. But before we buy the rest of the webcams can motion support 16 cameras? What is the limit on the number of cameras that motion will support?

Hi Jose,

the only limit is what your hardware can handle , usually is a good idea to run motion with no more that 16 cameras.
