Access to Live Webcan Server through login and password

Question

Hi, I have tried in a lot of and well documented options related to the Motion application, but I haven't find out a setting which allow to bind the access to the streaming of the webcams (no IP Cam) installed and managed, by using login and password.

I'm not referring to the option "control_authentication value" linked to the access at the section HTTP Based Control, which it is carried out on the port 8080, but to the possibility to get the access to the Live Webcam Server through login and password which would give a safer access from the external to the own webcam.

In the particular version of motion for RaspiCam (motion-mmalcam.conf) I found the follow option: # Authentication for the stream. Syntax username:password # Default: not defined (Disabled) ; stream_authentication username:password but in the original 3.2.12 nothing of that.

Answer

Flavio , this option is only available in SVN / GIt version not in 3.2.12 .

Please get GIT or SVN and build from source.
