Motion - Support Question 2014x 09x 14x 141506

Cannot save movies

Question

I've gone through a number of set up help sites, and no matter what I do, I can't get Motion to save any type of movie file. I'm trying to save to avi, but I only get jpegs. Also, the target directory of ~/.motion/images, or /home/marc/.motion/images is not working. The files are always stored in ~/.motion, or /home/marc/.motion.

I don't mind where the files are stored as much as that I can't record a video of motion detected.

Thanks.
