Motion - Support Question 2016x 04x 09x 032704

Can motion create animated GIFs?

Question

Is it possible to instruct Motion to create animated GIFs from a series of images taken at motion detection, and then send each GIF once created to the user email instead of sending a series of jpeg files? If not directly possible in current Motion version, what sequence of Motion & FFMpeg commands would you suggest to do that?

Generally, it makes a little sense to email a series of JPEG images at motion detection. Its more rational to create and email one animated GIF representing the motion event, and simultaneously create higher quality AVI or MP4 video clip of that event stored on a local drive.
Paste in your error messages, config settings, terminal window output etc in this text field.
