Motion - Bug Report 2005x 12x 21x 110709

BUG: 3.2.4-1 Crashes when using with pan/tilt control on web port

When using pan/tilt on web control port (directly or via control204pt.php script) motion crashes with no output generated

Test case

3.2.4-1 installed from RPM crashes as above

3.2.3-1 installed from RPM with same config etc works fine

  • O/S Centos 4.2
  • kernel 2.6.9-22.1.0.106 unsupported smp
  • PWC ver 9.0.2 standard in this kernel
  • Camera Logitech Webcam Sphere

Have not yet tried PWC 10

Environment

Motion version: 3.2.4-1
ffmpeg version: ffmpeg-0.4.9-0.20041110.3.2
Shared libraries: ffmpeg, mysql, postgresql
Server OS: Centos 4.2

Follow up

Some questions.

So you installed motion-3.2.4 from RPM? And with ffmpeg-0.4.9-0.20041110.3.2 RPM? That will fail. The ffmpeg API has changed. You need to download a newer ffmpeg rpm. I have tested and built the Motion rpm using the version from Livna as written on the DownloadFiles page.

Can you post your entire motion.conf? Just attach it to this topic. There is an attach button below.

You should try pwc version 10.0.X. I have tested with 10.0.8 and 10.0.9. I have a logitech Sphere and I control it via the http interface.

But first get the right ffmpeg rpm. Motion probably crashes when you move the camera because the movement triggers motion which again triggers ffmpeg to make an mpeg and then it crashes.
