Follow up
We need more information to be able to evaluate what your problem is.
Motion simply gets the picture frames from the
V4L interface from your driver. So either you run the driver very differently in the two cases or there is something goofy with the driver.
Please describe the two use cases more in detail and also please post your entire motion.conf. Just remove any passwords from it and attach it to this bug report. Use the attach link at the bottom of the topic (in normal view mode) and upload it.
Fix record
Both cases are strictly the same : I load one driver or the other, /dev/video0 is created, then I launch motion with the same config
First case :
#modprobe cpia_pp
#motion
Second case :
#insmod /root/qc_usb/quickcam.ko
#/root/qc_usb/qcset debug=0
#motion
