Motion - Bug Report 2005x 10x 08x 192350

BUG: Motion crashes upon motion detection

I am running Motion 3.2.3 on an x86-64 Gentoo machine:

Linux version 2.6.13-rc5-mm1 (root@localhost) (gcc version 4.0.1 (Gentoo 4.0.1, pie-8.7.8)) #11 Wed Sep 7 02:15:33 CDT 2005

The kernel and Glibc use native threads. Motion works great, and I can view a rapidly updating display from the webserver, until I walk in front of it (causing motion). Then, the image freezes, as does motion itself. When I hit Ctrl-C or Ctrl-Z, nothing happens; I have to execute kill -9 from another console.

Test case

  1. Execute motion on a machine like that described above.
  2. Point your browser to the image display
  3. Walk in front of the camera
  4. Check the image display and attempt to exit motion

Environment

Motion version: 3.2.3
ffmpeg version: 0.4.9 (2005/09/06)
Shared libraries: ffmpeg, mysql
Server OS: Gentoo, kernel 2.6.13-rc5-mm1

Follow up

Did you look in your syslog? It is almost impossible to help without the error messages that Motion makes either in syslog or console when running as non-daemon.

Did you check FrequentlyAskedQuestions - last Q&A?

Submitter never followed up with more information.

Bug report rejected.
