Motion - Support Question 2007x 06x 19x 050017

motion, on card with chip cx23881-19 not working at all, but tvtime does

Question

With this board from www.te-elc.com, model TE-104C, there is no way to bring motion to work, tvtime works.

I am not happy with motion. If tvtime works fine, why is motion not working? Why cant the motion keepers use parts of the tvtime software to bring motion to work?

Environment

Motion version: motion_3.2.7-0.ubuntu.edgy_i386.deb
ffmpeg version: 3.0.cvs20060823-3.1ubuntu1
Libraries: ffmpeg
Server OS:

Answer

Looking at your card it is nothing special. It has a normal BT878 chip (ONE Chip) and uses the bttv driver. So it should work and work well.

Do not expect 4 inputs to work well. More than one and you need to use the Round Robin feature.

Please post your motion.conf file, the entry for the card in /etc/modprobe.conf and the exact errors you get in the syslog and/or when running Motion with motion -n

You can also try the latest beta. See MotionSnapshotReleases. Or the daily source snap. MotionDailySourceSnap. I run with the daily and it seems very solid for the moment.

You will have to compile from sources but it is not that difficult as long as you have the development packages for ffmpeg, and mysql/postgresql (if you need DB support).

The main feature added since 3.2.7 is support for V4L2 drivers.
